Wadu Jao Beach in Dompu Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province

Located near to Sumbawa Regency, Wadu Jao Beach becomes a good alternative to spend a vacation with families. The exact location is in Jambu Village and it belongs in Pajo Sub-District. In terms of name, “Wadu” means stones while “Jao” means green. As the name suggests, the beach’s prime feature is the presence of big green stones and cliff. This explains why many people come to the beach for photography and sightseeing. They are impressed by the stunning landscape and beauty of the beach, after all. The Nuance
As mentioned before, Wadu Jao has beautiful green stones and cliff on some of its sides. According to the locals, those stones are called Tufaan. Those are made of quartz and olivine crystal sedimentation. What about the shoreline and sea? It features soft brownish sandy shoreline and small waves. Also, tourists may pass through shallots farms along the way to the beach. This view is unique and gives them a good background in photography. Thus, do not forget to drop by for a while in those farms before heading to the beach later.

They can even witness a serene island on the horizon, which is located across the beach. Somehow, tourists are allowed to get to the island later by boat. What they need to do is to find the right boat service and cross Hu’u Strait right away. One thing, the waves are considered strong, so tourists should only cross the sea during the low tide. Fortunately, the distance is only 200 meters.

People often come to Wadu Jao Beach in order to play on the shoreline, as well. They conduct beach walking, building a sand castle, and beach sports. The thing is the texture is not quite soft, so tourists must wear comfy footwear while doing those activities. The only disappointment is tourists are not allowed to get in the water or swim in the sea. It is because the waves are too strong! Thus, parents who come with their kids should supervise the children carefully.

Another good thing that tourists can find in Wadu Jao Beach is the relaxation spot or gazebos. Everyone can use this freely, in fact. No wonder, some people even carry some foods and eat these together with their friends or family. Tourists also come in the evening to grill some meats and conduct a BBQ party on the beach!

How to Get There
For those coming from Jakarta City, tourists can take advantage of an airplane service at Soekarno – Hatta International Airport and head directly to Sultan Muhammad Kaharuddin III Airport in Sumbawa Regency. Once they arrive at Sumbawa Besar City, they should take Diponegoro Street and visit Wadu Jao Beach right away. The distance is 206 km, so the trip may take around 4 hours and 36 minutes.
