Exploring Tanjung Menangis
In terms of name, “Tanjung” means cape while “Menangis” means crying. It is true the site has an interesting local legend related to it. The locals say that there was a dying princess due to an uncommon disease. The father found an old man who was reliable enough to cure his daughter, fortunately. This old man succeeded, somehow. Knowing this miracle, the king would grant any wishes from him. However, he refused right away as the old man asked the princess to marry him. Leaving the village by boat, he turned into a handsome man. The princess cried right away and ran after the man. Unfortunately, she was drowned in the sea while chasing the man.
After getting the information regarding Tanjung Menangis, tourists should take advantage of the landscape to conduct photography. The fact is Tanjung Menangis doesn’t feature a shoreline. Instead, tourists need to climb the cliff and enjoy sightseeing or photography up there. They must be careful when exploring the cliff, though. It is because the landscape is rough and uneven. Moreover, it becomes slippery during the wet season.
Another thing that tourists can do on the site is cliff jumping. This extreme sport becomes more famous these days. As the name suggests, tourists may jump off the cliff and get in the seawater directly. Even though it looks scary, cliff jumping is both fun and challenging. Not to mention it is safe, as long as tourists follow the instruction given by the experts.
